Welcome.

I am passionate about languages and communication and that is why I became a translator. According to the dictionary, to translate is to express the sense of words or text in another language; but common sense and my experience have shown me that it is not a simple task and has lots of subtleties. According to me, to translate is to express a text in another language bearing in mind the content and the form, i.e., the message and the style, using the most appropriate linguistic resources in the target language to avoid having to resort to literalism.

And this is what I do every day when I translate: I observe and study carefully the text that I have in my hands to fully understand it in order to be able to transfer the message into my mother tongue.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Arts in Translation and Interpretation in English and French, awarded by the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in 2004.

Master of Arts in Audiovisual Translation, awarded by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in 2006.

Attended the 2nd International Conference on Audiovisual Translation (CITA).

Certificate of Proficiency in English, awarded by the Cambridge University.

Services

The services I offer are as follows:

General translation

I translate all kind of texts from English and French into Spanish and Catalan. I also translate between Spanish and Catalan, and vice versa.

Audiovisual translation

I translate movies, series, cartoons, documentaries and any kind of audiovisual material for dubbing and subtitling purposes.

I translate preproduction scripts of movies, documentaries, cartoons and any other future audiovisual product.

I also do subtitling for the deaf and hard of hearing.

Transcriptions

I transcribe any type of oral text in audio or video format in Catalan, Spanish and English according to standardised transcription criteria so that the text can be studied, translated, proofread or edited later.

Proofreading

Proofreading of texts in Spanish and Catalan. The text is read carefully to spot any mistakes in order to facilitate the reading.

The final text is revised and compared with the original one to make sure that the translation is not too literal.

Language learning

I offer English lessons at different levels; from beginners to more advanced users with previous knowledge of the language who want to improve for personal or professional reasons or because they want to sit an official exam.

I also offer Catalan and Spanish lessons at all levels.
